Examples of flexible conductive or heating structures:
Remark: the following items are examples of structures that our custommers can produce from our yarns, but often we can also supply these semi finished products to you for direct insertion in your smart textile or process. Do not hesitate to question us!
I/ THERMOTAPE: flexible electro heating ribbons or tapes:
The flexible electro heating ribbon THERMOTAPE, is available in 18mm width and 2,6 Ohms/m. Ribbons are also available for specific applications in different width and power range. They can easily be intergrated in various flexible textile structures, or on variously shaped more rigid structures as rubber or composites by example.
- At the contrary of conventional heating yarns, the power is spread on a surface, a warp of yarn. Therefore they give a much better power exchange ratio with a much thinner structure.
- They are also available on a version with an insulated power return yarn to facilitate the connecting issue.
- THERMOTAPE narrow fabrics can be easily sewn or glued on different materials and are machine washable. Please question us!
II/ THERMOBRAID: Flexible Electro heating braid
- The heating elements (THERMOTECH N yarn) are braided together on the outside of the braid, for a better heat transfer.
- One or two power return wire can be inserted in the core
- Although there is a slight elongation of the braid possible for a better strain or deformation withstanding, the resistivity of the braid is constant.
please question us
III/ THERMOTRESS: Flexible Electro heating hollow braid
- The heating elements (thermotech yarn) are braided alone or together with other reinforcment synthetics yarns of the hollow braid
- When needed, the heating element can eventually be made with insulated heating yarns (THERMOTECH I)
- The hollow braid can be used for covering a tubular pipe or hose section, by example for de-freesing applications
- In some case the braid can directly be made on the flexible tube

IV/ THERMOTISS: Electro heating pads or woven fabrics
- The heating elements (thermotech or spuntech yarns) can be woven in the weft or in the warp, and can be spread according to the needs
- Often the selwedges are made out of conductive yarns to bring easilly the power into the cloth.
- A version woven with meta aramid or thermostable can be developped
- Somer applications in knitting structures are also developped; please question us!
- Different power density and weight by m² can be achieved

IV/ TIBGRID: New concept of electro heating flexible open grid
- TIBGRID" is a new concept of woven fabric where the electro heating yarn THERMOTECH is kept in place by a few number of spaced warp yarns , but are having a continuous path through a long length of cloth.
The heating elements (thermotech or spuntech yarns) , can remain non insulated or can be woven insulated. The pitch can be adapted to the power needs.
- there are no other weft yarns in the TIBGRID structure, and, as thin electro heating yarns can be use, it remains flexible and easy to insert in a composite structure by example.
- The TIBGRID structure, if based on 75mm width in standard, can be woven up to 1 meter width. It can either be the same THERMOTECH yarn that is woven through all the width, or either a serie of a smaller width ondulations placed and powered in parallel across the cloth width.
- A double electro heating circuit is often inserted in the TIBGRID structure to allow either an alternative safety heating circuit, either a power return device allowing easy connections only in one side of the pad.
V/ Composite applications for conductive plastics
- Loaded electro conductive thermoplastic and compounds.
- Thermo or electro conductive composite ( cf conference of G.TIBERGHIEN at TECHTEXTIL / AVANTEX 2009 )
- Electro heating composite reinforcement.
